Tournament was held January 30th in Erie PA. Six KIA students went to compete along with Master Madry . Many of these students were new to open outside tournaments. Sensei Valentin and Sensei Hufford were competing for the first time as KIA black belts in an open tournament.
King Cobra host about 600 competitors some coming from England, Canada and all over the United States. Needless to say all of these competitors did an excellent job. Nathan Mulgrew from Cleveland KI took fourth place in the 11-12 year old Novice sparring. Taylor Slivka took first in the advanced 15-17 year old sparring. Mitchell Geddis took second in 13-17 year old advanced weapons, a first place in advanced 15-17 yr. old forms and a second in 15-17 year old advanced sparring.
Sensei Valentin took fourth place in Black belt self defense , fourth place in black belt weapons, fifth place in Black belt forms and fourth place in black belt sparring. Sensei Hufford finished sixth in weapons, seventh in black belt forms. Sensei Stuber finished first in black belt weapons.
All of the divisions had great competition and average twelve competitors or more . Great job to all of these students and to their instructors. Master Madry and Sensie Stuber plan on attending more outside tournaments in 2010 with KIA students that are interested in developing their competitive skills.
