On Febuary 21,2010 Master Madry  traveled to Auburn Hills Michigan with eleven competitors from the Karate Institute of America. The group drove four hours to compete in the KI Challenge hosted by the KI Tang Soo Do. The event had about 100 competitors from around the area. The tournament ran smoothly with everyone helping it finished up about 4pm. The KIA students many competing for the first time in an open tournament did very well. The tournament started out with Black Belt Weapons forms. This division had over fifteen competitors in it. When they called the winners to the podium the top four places were Sensei Brandes , Sensei Hufford , Sensei Stuber and Sensei Valentin. It was a KIA sweep. The Black Belt forms was next out of twenty competitors there were two KIA black belts up on the podium Sensei Valentin in second and Sensei Stuber next to him in third. The color belts had a great day in their divisions. Joseph Rangel took first in adult weapons and Mitchell Geddis took second . In Advanced forms Joseph Rangel finished fourth. Rafael Colon took third in Novice forms and third in novice fighting. One of the youngest KIA  competitors in the event Nathan Mulgrew took first in Junior weapons and third in Fighting . Taylor Slivka took first in Womens advanced fighting while Joseph Rangel took a second in Mens advanced fighting and Mitchell Geddis took a third in that division. The last division of the day was Black Belt Fighting and once again when it was over two KIA black Belts were up on the podium Sensei Valentin in second and Sensei Manalo in third place. Great Job! Your instructors are proud of all of you.
